Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Protecting your personal data is important to me. This privacy policy informs you about which personal data is processed when you use this website, for which purposes this happens and which rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Mario Meyer
August-Bebel-Str. 36
18055 Rostock
Germany
E-mail: kontakt [at] rostock-webcam [dot] de
3. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by an external service provider (web host). When you access the website, your browser automatically transmits certain information which is stored in so-called server log files. This may include:
- Your IP address,
- Date and time of the request,
- Requested file or page,
- Amount of data transmitted,
- Browser type and version,
- Operating system used,
- Referrer URL (the previously visited page, if transmitted).
This data is technically necessary to correctly deliver the content of the website, to ensure stability and security and to detect and investigate misuse.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and stable operation of the website). Log files are usually deleted automatically after a short period unless longer storage is required for security reasons (e.g. to clarify misuse or fraud).
4. Contact by e-mail
When you contact me by e-mail, the data you provide (e.g. name, e-mail address, content of the message) will be processed in order to handle and answer your request.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract or steps prior to entering into a contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries).
Your data will only be stored for as long as is necessary to process your request or as long as statutory retention obligations require.
5. Embedded webcams and video streams
This website displays webcam images and video streams from Rostock and Warnemünde. Some images are retrieved server-side, processed and made available as static images. In these cases, there is no direct connection between your browser and the third-party webcam server from the visitor's perspective.
For some live streams (e.g. hotel or company cameras), video content is embedded directly from external providers. When accessing such streams, your browser connects directly to the provider's servers. In this process, your IP address and other technical data (such as browser type and operating system) may be processed. I have no influence on this data processing by the third-party providers.
The integration of webcams is carried out in order to present the Rostock region in an attractive way and to provide up-to-date impressions and weather conditions. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in an informative and attractive website).
6. Vessel traffic map (MarineTraffic)
On certain pages, a vessel traffic map widget provided by an external tracking service (e.g. "MarineTraffic") is embedded. When you access these pages, your browser loads the map and related scripts directly from the provider's servers.
In doing so, the provider may process your IP address, technical browser data and possibly further information (e.g. regarding the use of the embedded service) and store this in log files. The provider may also use cookies or similar technologies for technical operation or for analysis and statistics purposes. I have no direct influence on this data processing.
The integration takes place in order to provide you with a convenient overview of vessel movements in the coastal area around Rostock and Warnemünde. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in an informative online offer). If the third-party provider requests your consent for its own purposes (e.g. via a cookie banner), further processing is based on your consent given directly to that provider.
7. Weather map (Windy)
To display current weather conditions, this website includes a weather widget from the service Windy (Windy.com). When the widget is loaded, your browser connects directly to Windy's servers. In doing so, technical log data, in particular your IP address, is transmitted to Windy. According to the provider, these technical logs are used solely to operate and improve the service, are deleted regularly (usually after one month), and are not used for analytics or marketing【384634162770952†L203-L207】. For more information, please refer to the Windy Privacy Policy. I have no influence over any further processing by Windy.
The widget is integrated to give you an appealing overview of current weather conditions in the Rostock and Warnemünde region. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in an informative presentation of the website). If Windy requires consent for its own purposes, further processing is based on the consent you give directly to Windy.
8. Social media buttons (Facebook and Twitter)
This website includes buttons that allow you to share content in social networks ("share" buttons from Facebook and Twitter). These buttons may transmit personal data such as your IP address to the respective networks as soon as the page loads, even if you are not logged in【645570716634367†L104-L157】. In this respect, Facebook and Twitter and I are jointly responsible for this data processing. To improve privacy, such buttons should only be activated via a so‑called two‑click solution, where the buttons are initially inactive and only loaded after you consciously activate them【645570716634367†L160-L176】. This site currently still uses the standard embedding. For further information on data processing by the networks, please consult the privacy policies of Facebook and Twitter.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not use its own cookies for analytics or tracking and no user profiles are created.
However, embedded third-party providers (e.g. the vessel traffic map provider or external video stream providers) may use cookies or similar technologies as soon as the corresponding content is loaded. The type and scope of such processing depends on the privacy policies of the respective providers.
10. Legal bases for processing
Unless otherwise specified in this privacy policy, the processing of personal data is based on the following legal grounds:
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – processing for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures; and
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – processing based on legitimate interests, in particular in the secure and functional operation of the website and an attractive presentation of the content.
11. Storage period
Unless a more specific storage period is stated in this privacy policy, personal data will be deleted as soon as the purpose of processing no longer applies and there are no statutory retention obligations.
12. Your rights
With regard to the processing of your personal data, you have the following rights:
- Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR),
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR),
- Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR).
If processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR.
13. Right to object pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR
Where the processing of your personal data is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests), you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data. I will then no longer process your personal data unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
14. Updates to this privacy policy
This privacy policy is currently valid. Due to the further development of this website or because of changed legal or regulatory requirements, it may become necessary to amend this privacy policy. The current version is available on this page at any time.
